Tailor made training for the staff of Faculty of Economics of University of Prishtina

Prishtine, Kosove. Within the framework of the TEMPUS project “Modernizing the 3rd cycle at the University of Prishtina and Developing a PhD Program at the Faculty of Economics” tailor made training for University of Prishtina staff took place during   01 – 03 February, 2017.

Prof. Dr. Marjan Dema, Rector of University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina”, delivered a welcome speech for the participants and expressed his support and his commitment for cooperation with partner universities. Welcome Speeches were also delivered by: Prof. Dr. Johann Brunner from Johannes Kepler University, Linz, Prof. Dr. Massimo Bianchi from University degli studi “G. D’Annunzio” di Chieti Pescara and Drita Kadriu from ministry of Education, Science and Technology.
During the three day training different presentations were delivered.  On the first day the presentations were from the following topics:

  • But Dedaj, Project Coordinator – Presentation of the project results of “Modernizing the 3rd cycle at the University of Prishtina and developing a PhD Program at the Faculty of Economics”
  • Drita Kadriu, Director of Higher Education Department – Presentation by the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology
  • Fortuna Mehmeti, Acting Director – Presentation by the Kosovar Accreditation Agency.
  • Faton Berisha, Vice – Rector for Scientific Research – Challenges and perspectives of scientific research at the University of Prishtina.
  • Naser Sahiti – Regulation framework, actual status and challenges for PhD studies at the University of Prishtina
  • Johann Brunner, Professor in Johannes Kepler University – Teaching methodology for the PhD studies at Johannes Kepler University Linz
  • Massimo Bianchi – Teaching methodology for the PhD studies at Universita degli studi “G. D’Annunzio” di Chieti Pescara
  • Srdjan Redzepagic – Teaching methodology for the PhD studies at University Nice Sophia Antipolis

On the second day the presentations that were delivered were from the following topic:

  • Dr. Johann Brunner – Mentorship/supervision of PhD studies at Johannes Kepler University Linz
  • Dr. Massimo Bianchi – Mentorship/supervision of PhD studies at Universita degli studi “G.D’Annunzio” di Chieti Pescara
  • Dr. Srdjan Redzepagic – Mentorship/supervision of PhD studies at University Nice Sophia Antipolis.

After the presentations a workshop was held on: Building successful strategy for implementation of PhD studies at the UP level – Supervision of PhD students in the context of lack of human recourses and large number of students. The workshop was moderated by Prof. Dr. But Dedaj.

On the third day the presentation were from the following topics:

  • Dr. Johann Brunner – Organization of the seminar work for PhD students and publication at Johannes Kepler University Linz
  • Dr. Massimo Bianchi – Organization of the seminar work for PhD students and publication at Universita degli studi “G.D’Annunzio” di Chieti Pescara
  • Dr. Srdjan Redzepagic – Organization of the seminar work for PhD students and publication at University Nice Sophia Antipolis.

The objectives of the training were:

  • To present to the participants the experiences of the EU partners on:

– Teaching methodology for the PhD studies

– Mentorship/supervision of PhD studies

– Organization of seminar work for PhD students and publications

– Tips for successful strategy implementation of PhD studies at the UP level according to the available resources

– Presentation of the latest trends of Quality Assurance to the latest ESG 2015

During the training participants had the chance to address questions to the presenters and make a discussion related to the topics. Furthermore, on the third day a consortium meeting was held.

Participants in the training were  Management of University of Prishtina “Hasan Prishtina” – UP, professors and teaching assistants of the Faculty of Economics- UP, PhD candidates, Representatives of Erasmus + Office, Representatives of Ministry of Education, Science and Technology of Kosovo, Kosovar Accreditation Agency and WUS Kosova.
